All survive after car plunges 30 metres down a ravine

THREE people travelling in a car, one of them being a two-month pregnant woman, miraculously survived today (Oct. 21) after their vehicle veered off a curve and plunged 30 metres down a ravine at Khao Kho, Phetchabun province, Amarin TV said.

Officers at Khao Kho police station were notified of this accident with the sedan having veered off the inbound lane of Phitsanulok–Lom Sak road, near kilometer marker 325, in Camp Son subdistrict, with the passengers trapped within.

The police team coordinated with the Sawang Mongkhon Sathan Khao Kho rescue team and Khao Kho Hospital before rushing to the scene.

At the site, the police team found that a roadside marker had been struck and uprooted, while a directional sign had been flattened. A white sedan registered in Phetchabun was discovered more than 30 metres down the ravine, with extensive damage across the vehicle.

Three injured people, two men and a woman who is approximately two months pregnant, were rescued and promptly transported to Khao Kho Hospital.

Police stated that the vehicle, carrying three people, was heading toward Lom Sak district when the accident occurred. It is suspected that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. This caused the vehicle to lose control and veer off the road into the ravine.

Fortunately, there was dense vegetation, which helped cushion the impact, leaving the three occupants with only injuries. Nevertheless, police will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
