Bangkok-Chiang Mai train slams into truck, northern line delayed

 

A FAST TRAIN heading for Chiang Mai smashed into a ten-wheel truck just before reaching Chum Saeng station in Nakhon Sawan at 7.34 p.m. this evening (Jan. 19) with the driver killed on the spot while all northern line trains running both ways were delayed, Matichon newspaper said.

Aside from the driver who died, identified as Mr. Pradit Promma, another person got injured when 109 Bangkok Apiwat-Chiang Mai train crashed into the truck.

As the carriages had derailed, Sawang Chum Saeng rescuers had started working on removing them and opening this line again. Heavy equipment was being brought in to handle this difficult task.
