THE NATIONAL Anti-Corruption Commission was today (Oct.19) asked to find out whether the embattled Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zhang Tansap and her spouse, namely Taiyang Zhang, may have falsified their declared assets by deliberately concealing potential incomes from an online gambling business registered overseas.
Political activist Srisuwan Janya filed the petition to the NACC calling for investigation by the anti-graft agency into the allegation that the elected lawmaker of the Bhumjaithai, core of the coalition government, alongside her spouse, an Australian national of Chinese descent, had falsely declared their assets amounting to about 1.9 billion baht without filing any incomes from a 1% share which Taiyang reportedly owns in the online casino, namely Shuffle.com, registered in Curacao and Suchada has recently admitted it. The notorious lawmaker’s spouse was reported as a founding investor of Natural Nine BV Casinos, which owns and operates the Shuffle.com online casino.
The Zhang family had evidently failed to declare the Shuffle.com share, deemed to carry a mega interest albeit considered a relatively paltry portion, thus violating the relevant law and prompting the anti-graft agency to delve into their asset concealment charges, according to the activist.
Other items of personal possession which Suchada has allegedly failed to declare included an 11-million-baht luxury sedan, a three-million-baht luxury watch and a 75-million-baht posh condominium in Bangkok whilst Taiyang has been invariably suspected of involvement in a transnational money-laundering scam in regard to a 1.4 billion baht sum in loan which he had reportedly provided for a crypto trading firm, namely the Singapore-based Three Arrows Capital, which was declared bankrupt by a British Virgin Islands court in addition to his online casino interest.
All gambling businesses either in gambling dens or online are definitely illegal in Thailand where an unspecified number of online bettors had been previously given access to Shuffle.com which was abruptly shut down in this country at the height of scandals surrounding the Zhang family.
If found guilty as charged in court, the first-time MP of Chaiyapum could possibly be immediately deprived of her legislative status and banned from engaging in political activity at all levels for life.
