THE AUTHORITIES were today (Oct.20) prompted to examine a specific income purportedly from the sale of an online casino share held by Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zhang Tansap’s spouse, namely Taiyang Zhang, and find out whether it may have been literally declared as part of their co-owned assets.
Deputy People’s leader/former MP Wirot Lakkhanaadisorn posted on his Facebook page to call on the National Anti-Corruption Commission and Department of Special Investigation, among other agencies concerned, to pinpoint where the yet-unknown amount of money from Taiyang’s purported sale of his 1.47% share of the Shuffle.com online casino which could probably amount to mega-millions in value have gone and exactly whether it may have been already included in the total of their assets earlier declared to the NACC.
Wirot was responding to Suchada’s latest, verbal claim to the extent that her spouse had managed to sell his Shuffle.com share for an unspecified amount of money since last January, thus prior to the Feb.8 general election in which she won an MP seat of Chaiyapum under the banners of the Bhumjaithai, core of the coalition government. For that reason, Suchada excused that she had not included the specific, undeclared income for her spouse among an estimated 1.9 billion baht in their co-owned assets.
Meanwhile, the Zhang family were quietly questioned by the DSI, a government agency under care of the Bhumjaithai-attached Justice Minister Rutthapon Naowarat, yesterday (Oct.19) whilst House Committee on Law, Justice & Human Rights Chair/People’s MP Rangsiman Rome and former Democrat MP Sirichok Sopa will be summoned sooner or later for interrogation by the DSI pertaining to the money-laundering scam and asset concealment scandals which they both had brought up against Suchada and Taiyang, an Australian national of Chinese descent.
The disreputable scandals surrounding the Zhang family were apparently prompting the authorities including the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau, Central Investigation Bureau, Anti-Money Laundering Office, Securities & Exchange Commission and DSI to coordinate the in-depth investigation.
If found guilty in court of breaching the politician’s code of ethics on charges of holding illegal interest in such an online casino based abroad to which gamblers in Thailand had been previously given access and asset concealment, the first-time Bhumjaithai MP could possibly immediately lose her legislative status and get banned from engaging in political activity at any levels for life.
