POLITICIANS accused of involvement in 2024’s senatorial rigging conspiracy and fraud plots over last year’s exams for personnel at local government units and those for chief district officers were finally found to be the ones mutually connected and attached to the same party, according to a prominent opposition lawmaker.
House Committee on Political Development, Mass Media & Public Participation Chair/People’s MP Pukkamon Nunarnan said today (Sep.2) those politicians who had been allegedly involved in those electoral rigging and exam fraud conspiracies were evidently found to have been mutually connected and attached to the same camp.
Pukkamon who stopped short of naming the party in question quoted activist lawyer Pattarapong Supaksorn who testified before her House committee as saying as much as three million baht in payoff cash had been covertly handed out by each of the cheating applicants in exchange for a position of chief district officer and taken by those alleged politician conspirators.
The exams for chief district officers were held by the Department of Provincial Administration whilst those for working-level personnel at municipalities and sub-district administrations, also known as Or Bor Tor, were held by the Department of Local Administration. Both government agencies are part of the Ministry of Interior where Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is taking charge in concurrent fashion.
However, the People’s MP said her House panel will shortly call on Department of Provincial Administration Director-General Narucha Kosacivilize for testimony pertaining to the exam fraud scandals.
Besides, Narucha, known as a protege of de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob, has been accused of involvement in the fraud conspiracy over the exams for hirees at municipalities and sub-district administrations during his previous time as director-general of the Department of Local Administration.
Under the senatorial rigging conspiracy, those suspected politicians had allegedly organised undue meetings of hired candidates running for senators, covered expenses on their hotel rooms and accommodations as well as handed out payoff cash and bloc-vote scripts for them to vote accordingly.
Under the exam fraud plots, the same rogue politicians had allegedly demanded and received kickback money in exchange for cheating applicants who had sat on exams for personnel to be employed at local government units under care of the Department of Local Administration and those to be named chief district officers under care of the Department of Provincial Administration.
