A FORMER investigative subcommittee responsive to the Election Commission had originally advised that the Bhumjaithai, core of the current coalition government, be subject to partisan dissolution at an order of the Supreme Court due to their alleged involvement in the 2024 senatorial vote-buying, electoral-rigging conspiracy, a prominent political activist said today (Sep.1).
The now-defunct subcommittee previously set up by the polling agency had resolved to call for Supreme Court judges in charge of elections to dissolve the Bhumjaithai as a whole primarily due to the largest ruling party’s alleged, evident involvement in the senatorial rigging shenanigans in addition to a total of 229 suspects including de facto party boss Newin Chidchob and party leader/Prime Minister Anutin Charvirakul, plus 20 other partisan members of cabinet, lawmakers and executive board members, according to Veera Somkwamkhid, saying he had access to copies of some original investigation papers.
However, that former subcommittee’s original conclusions had been entirely refuted by another subcommittee which the election commissioners had set up at a later date with alleged intent to make excuses for themselves to not press charges in the Supreme Court against any of the 229 suspects or only to do so against some of the suspected senators and others whilst significantly keeping those suspected, front-line politicians intact.
Besides, the former panelists who had originally called for dissolution of Newin’s camp had concluded that those 229 suspects would be subject to criminal charges in the Supreme Court due to their evident involvement in the electoral fraud conspiracy.
The suspected Bhumjaithai politicians include Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri, Prime Minister’s Office Ministers Paradorn Prisnanuntakul, Napinthorn Srisanpang and Suksamruay Wantaneeyakul, chief government whip Koravee Prisnanuntakul and former deputy House speaker Supachai Bhosu, Anutin and Newin, among others.
The election commissioners have reportedly decided to unveil to the public on Sep. 14 whether they may forward criminal lawsuits against all or some of those suspects in the Supreme Court pertaining to the senatorial rigging conspiracy or whether they would probably prosecute none at all.
