Tangmo Nida’s mum to appeal after court dismisses case against 3 defendants

AFTER Nonthaburi Provincial Court dismissed the case against three of six defendants in the drowning of late actress Pataratida Patcharawirapong, or Tangmo Nida, in Chao Phraya river during a speedboat trip in February 2022 her mother said she is going to appeal, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (May 23).

Mrs. Panida Siriyuttayothin, Tangmo Nida’s mother, said she is still concerned about several issues and is preparing to file an appeal in about two months’ time. She has given power of attorney to Mr. Decha Kittiwittayanan, her lawyer, to handle the appeal.

The five friends who were with Tangmo Nida when she drowned in Chao Phraya river on Feb. 24, 2022 are Ms. Idsarin Juthasuksawat, or Gatick, her manager; Ms. Wisapat Manomairat, or Sand; Mr. Nithat Keeratisuthisathorn, or Job; Mr. Paiboon Srikanchananan, or Robert or Bird, the amateur skipper; and Mr. Tanupat Lerttaweewit, or Hi So Por, the speedboat owner.

Mr. Pheem Thammathirasri, or M, who did not join the boat trip was charged with being the mastermind of the drowning.

The three who were cleared today are Wisapat, Idsarin and Pheem. However Nithat was sentenced to four months in jail for throwing garbage in a river and destroying evidence. As he confessed, the sentence was suspended.

All four in this case had denied the charges and the court ruled that Tangmo Nida had voluntarily put herself at risk of death by walking to the back of the boat.

The other two defendants, Tanupat and Paiboon, had been sued separately and given suspended sentences after the former had confessed to recklessness and the latter to running a speedboat without a licence.
