THE HEAD of the Crime Victims Assistance Club said today (Jan. 30) the drowning death of late actress Pataratida Patcharawirapong, or Tangmo Nida, in Chao Phraya river during a speedboat trip in February 2022 was linked to influential people with a former senator supervising the case, Amarin TV said today (Jan. 30).
Mr. Atchariya Ruangrattanapong, chairman of this club, also alleged that Tangmo Nida became a victim because she found out some secrets of a powerful person’s drug trafficking network which resulted in her being sold for 400,000 baht.
He now wants the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to find out what happened that night as it has reopened the investigation but as yet has not categorised it as a special case.
This famous former senator was very powerful in the past, he said, adding policemen lobbying for promotions or transfers had to go through him to succeed. Aside from being a national politician his son is one of the police officers who were involved in this case.
In addition, this case is also linked to groups involved in drugs and online gambling websites, including groups that organise boat parties to which women are regularly lured to attend.
Atchariya also said that those behind Tangmo Nida’s drowning death tried to link it to a former national police chief and his brother but they were not involved.
He also confirmed that those on the boat with the late actress know many politicians and influential people including former high-ranking civil servants with this former senator being the one who controlled the whole incident and the truth will soon be revealed.
The five friends who were with Tangmo Nida when she drowned in Chao Phraya river on Feb. 24 are Ms. Idsarin Juthasuksawat, or Gatick, her manager; Ms. Wisapat Manomairat, or Sand; Mr. Nithat Keeratisuthisathorn, or Job; Mr. Paiboon Srikanchananan, or Robert or Bird, the amateur skipper; and Mr. Tanupat Lerttaweewit, or Hi So Por, the speedboat owner.
Two of them, Tanupat and Paiboon were given suspended sentences after the former had confessed to recklessness and the latter to running a speedboat without a licence.
