Foreigner dies in Pattaya motorbike accident

AN UNIDENTIFIED foreign man died in Pattaya this afternoon (May 20) after flying off a motorcycle when it hit the edge of a footpath at a curve of Jomtien Two road, Naewna newspaper said.

Pol. Lt. Col. Sanan Kotanon, deputy inspector of Pattaya police station, rushed to scene of the accident together with Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rescuers and found the foreign biker, who was wearing white shorts and a brown T-shirt, dead at the scene with severe head and facial wounds.

Scattered on the road were parts of a Bangkok-registered motorcycle with the front badly damaged.

An eyewitness who was sitting nearby said the foreigner rode through as if he were drunk and then lost control of the motorcycle at the curve of the road slamming hard against the footpath. The rider was flung off the motorbike by the force of the coalition and first hit the speed-limit signpost then the ground while the motorcycle slid to the centre of the road. He quickly called the police.

Initially Pol. Lt. Col. Sanan took photos of the accident while asking Pattaya city officials for surveillance video clips to ascertain what took place. Meanwhile rescuers took the deceased man’s body to Bang Lamung Hospital where after he had been identified his relatives could take a funeral.
