Update: Fire was actually at Jusmagthai complex, no injuries

 

A FIRE that broke out at Sathorn Soi 1 this evening (August 8) was actually at the Joint US Military Advisory Group Thailand (Jusmagthai) complex and not the German embassy as earlier reported with there being no injuries, Matichon newspaper said.

At 7.35 p.m. firemen and police at Thungmahamek station were alerted of the fire erupting at Sathorn Soi 1 and initially it was thought to be at the German embassy which is located next to it.

Pol. Col. Krisada Manawongsakul, the station’s chief, and Pol. Col. Krisada Manawongsakul, the deputy chief, rushed to the scene to investigate as did five fire engines from Bon Kai fire station to put it out.

The fire had started at the second floor of an old building right next to the fence with no one currenly living or working there.

It was locked and firemen could not get in but they sprayed water at the second floor where the blaze and black smoke was speading and after 15 minutes managed to extinguish it.

Initial investigation could only be done from outside and it was estimated that around 50 square wah of the second floor had been damaged by the fire.

Police will be coordinating with officials taking care of the complex to investigate and determine the cause of the fire.
