Sattahip district chief transferred after pub fire kills 14 people

AFTER a huge fire engulfed a pub in Sattahip district of Chonburi province at 1 a.m. this morning (August 5) killing 14 people and injuring many others the district chief was immediately transferred to the Department of Provincial Administration, Naewna newspaper and Sanook.com said.

The department’s chief Mr. Thanakom Chongjira signed an order transferring Sattahip’s district chief  Maj. Chatchai Sriphoon to perform duties at the Institute of Administration Development  on a regular basis starting today until further notice.

The deadly fire that broke out at Mountain B pub while hundreds of nightlifers were enjoying themselves there initially killed 13 people but one more later died in the hospital raising the toll to 14 with 41 injured.

The fire started from the roof and quickly spread across the complex because the roof was padded with foam for soundproofing.

Moreover there were only air vents at the front door causing the fire to rage even more violently.

It took firemen over two hours to bring the blaze under control. Once it was put out they tragically found the bodies of 13 patrons.

Four were lying together near the front door, three died in the men’s restroom, one died behind the DJ booth, two at the cashier’s counter and three in front of it.
