TORRENTIAL rain and strong winds toppled several electricity poles across a two-kilometre stretch of Chalong Krung road, Lat Krabang district, this evening (June 26) leading to several people being injured and over 30 vehicles and houses damaged, Naewna newspaper and PPTVHD36 said.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said this long line of poles fell like dominos from Chalong Krung Soi 31 to Soi 57 at 5.40 p.m. These poles are scattered across both inbound and outbound lanes, making the road impassable.
Currently, police have closed Chalong Krung road from Suwinthawong road intersection to Chaokhun Thahan intersection. To facilitate operations and ensure safety, the public is advised to avoid using this route.
Meanwhile, electricity officials have urgently deployed cranes and personnel to remove knocked down power poles and wires to reopen the road and restore the power system as quickly as possible as there is now a widespread power outage.
