Election Commission deletes photo after netizens zoom in on suspicious cabinet

THE Election Commission today (Nov. 10) quickly deleted a photo of a commissioner giving an interview to a reporter after Thai netizens noticed a cabinet with solid glass at the corner of the office that appeared to be a wine cooler, Sanook.com said.

Mr. Thitichat Nuchanat, Election Commissioner-IT, was giving information about preparations for the nationwide election of tambon administration organisation councillors and chairmen on the 28th of this month when the photo was taken.

However, eagle-eyed netizens quickly noticed the cabinet at the corner of the office and pointed out that it is clearly a wine cooler which costs around 20,000 baht and this does not include the total value of the wine bottles stored within, that though not clearly visible could still be seen.

They criticised the seeming appearance of a wine cooler in a government office, asking why alcoholic drinks are available there when there is a clear rule that officials may not drink at government premises and as if that was not enough, the photo was also shared online.

However shortly after this photo was posted on the Election Commission’s Facebook page it was quickly deleted.
