A CERTAIN female who is currently among a total of 229 suspects in the 2024 senatorial rigging conspiracy and who had evidently telephoned a number of senators many times over had been hired as a former “expert” for Bhumjaithai MP Chalat Ratchakitprakarn, son of Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Transport Minister Pipat Ratchakitprakarn.
People’s MP Parit Wacharasindhu today (Aug.25) posted on his Facebook page to allege the female, namely Ratana Bawtham, previously hired as “expert” for the Bhumjaithai lawmaker who concurrently acts as an executive board member of the largest ruling party, of having evidently made 62 telephone calls to 19 senators during June and September that year after they had been “elected” from among allegedly-hired, fellow contestants in the vote-buying, electoral rigging conspiracy.
Pipat had been earlier assigned by de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob to look after the partisan electoral campaign for southern constituencies during the election for MPs held earlier this year.
Ratana is reportedly among many working-level, Bhumjaithai-associated suspects who had surreptitiously coordinated or managed in the notorious rigging shenanigans allegedly masterminded and preplanned by front-line partisan members.
Many had allegedly booked hotel rooms or transferred cash for hired contestants to vote for designated candidates and cover their expenses during the triple-tiered, senatorial races ranging from district and provincial levels to national level.
In the meantime, Parit called on Chalat to truthfully respond whether he had attended any meeting of senators at Pullman King Power hotel alongside any other executive members of his party.
The opposition lawmaker’s latest comments were apparently made in anticipation of an historic decision of the Election Commission to be publicly known around the end of this month as to whether all the 229 suspects consisting of 138 out of the total 200 senators plus 91 Bhumjaithai members and other politically-associated persons will be eventually prosecuted in the Supreme Court on charges of conspiring to buy votes and rig the complicated, triple-tiered senatorial races two years ago.
Those prominent Bhumjaithai suspects include Deputy Prime Minister Songsak Thongsri, Prime Minister’s Office Ministers Paradorn Prisnanuntakul. Napinthorn Srisanpang and Suksamruay Wataneeyakul, chief government whip Koravee Prisnanuntakul, former deputy House speaker Supachai Bhosu, Pipat and Anutin, among others.
In one instance, Anutin who concurrently acts as leader of the largest ruling party was seen mingling with the “newly-elected” senators at the Bangkok hotel where the de facto Bhumjaithai boss and himself have reportedly frequented.
