Brawl between Thai woman and foreign man in Phuket goes viral

MAKING the rounds on social media is a video clip of a brawl between a Thai woman and a foreign man with their friends also joining the melee which has sparked outrage among netizens who are concerned about damage to this island’s tourism image, Amarin TV said today (May 2).

The video, shared by Facebook user “Bebe Surat Thani”, shows the punch-up that broke out at around 5 a.m. this morning in Soi Bangla, Patong beach, with the Thai woman and the foreign man not identified and it is also not known what they quarreled about with onlookers also watching them.

Following the video’s release, netizens commented extensively on the incident, condemning the behaviour of the perpetrators. They expressed concern about the image of Thailand’s tourism, and among the comments are, “Calm down,” “No one wants to come here anymore,” and “I hope those foreigners go back to their country and tell their people not to come to Thailand again. Believe me, no one wants to come to Thailand anymore,” etc.

However, there is no official report from the authorities regarding the cause of the incident, nor any legal action taken against those involved, with a follow-up awaited.
