Lovestruck man steals vehicle to win girl’s heart

A MAN who has been secretly in love with a high-school girl stole a government vehicle to show off to her in the hopes of winning her heart but police crushed his dreams, Amarin TV said this afternoon (Jan. 16).

Pol. Lt. Chawakun Sittisak, deputy chief for investigation at Chumphon City police station, was notified by Mr. Prasat (surname withheld), 59, that he had parked a Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning pickup truck at this city’s railway station parking lot to collect some goods but did not switch off the engine.

When he returned he found that the vehicle had gone with a surveillance camera clip showing that a thief had stolen it.

As a GPS system was installed in the vehicle police quickly found out that the thief was driving along Phetkasem road and heading for Prachuab Khiri Khan province.

They then alerted various police checkpoints to intercept the thief.

Later at 5.30 p.m. Mr. Wathana (surname withheld), 32, was stopped and arrested near Kiri Lom School, Bang Saphan Noi district, Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect had six-rai durian orchard in this province and over the past three years of farming it he secretly fell in love with a teen girl who is now studying in the 11th grade.

She is the daughter of a grocery store owner in the village and he frequently went there just to see her but did not dare approach her.

Yesterday he bought and took four methamphetamine pills and looked around for a vehicle to steal and drive to show off to the girl of his dreams.

When he saw this pickup truck with the engine still running he quickly hopped in and drove off to go see her but was stopped and arrested before he did so.

As a test showed he had taken drugs he was charged with theft and driving a car after taking Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine).
