AN Israeli man who is said to be a high-ranking member of the “Avengers” gang and has committed numerous crimes in his home country was arrested at a Koh Samui luxury villa with details of three of his accomplices hiding out with him sent to Israel for background checks, Amarin TV said today (May 1).
At 4 p.m. yesterday an Immigration police team apprehended Mr. Matan Arviv, 28, at this villa after an investigation into suspects wanted in Israel. They had been alerted by an Israeli embassy attaché that there is an arrest warrant issued by the Hadera District Court of Israel for him on charges of conspiracy to commit crimes, obstructing investigations, and carrying out acts endangering personal safety.
The attaché also said that Arviv had been hiding in several countries after fleeing his country. Moreover, there is a green Interpol notice, issued on April 17, 2026, designating him as a dangerous individual, potentially violent, and possessing weapons.
Details of Arviv’s case indicate that aside from being a high-ranking member of the Avengers gang he had served multiple prison sentences and carried out numerous criminal offences, including receiving stolen goods; conspiracy to commit serious and minor offences; illegal possession of weapons; fraud; vehicle break-in or burglary; vehicle theft or dismantling; illegal possession or distribution of weapons; and careless conduct regarding fire or flammable materials.
Furthermore, he faces several pending charges, including murder, unlawful detonation and distribution of explosives and causing damage using explosives; conspiracy to commit crimes ranging from serious to minor offences, including arson, intimidation, exporting, importing, trading, or supplying narcotics, drug-related offences involving the inducement or degradation of minors; and possession or use of prohibited devices.
The Immigration police team raided and apprehended Arviv at the posh villa after Pol. Maj. Gen. Chutharet Yingyongdamrongsakul, commander of Immigration Division 6, revoked his visa. He has been placed on a blacklist prohibiting future entry into Thailand and will now be deported to Israel.
The police team also jotted down details about three of his accomplices and sent them to Israel for background checks. If they are deemed dangerous individuals, further action will be taken.
