PRIME Minister/Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today (May 1) jumped to support Deputy Prime Minister/Commerce Minister Supajee Suthumpun who has been lambasted on social media pointing out that she works incredibly hard and is not at all discouraged, PPTVHD36 said.
Asked by reporters if Supajee is facing difficult times, Anutin retorted, “Who says Ms. Supajee is experiencing a series of misfortunes? I’ve been experiencing them for three years now, and I haven’t had any problems. Ms. Supajee has never paid attention to these matters.”
“She is not at all discouraged; she’s just pushing ahead, so much so that sometimes I have to tell her, ‘Sister, slow down a bit, take a break’,” he said.
Asked further whether it was necessary to bring someone in to strengthen the team as there is no deputy commerce minister, Anutin confirmed, “No need, it’s fine.”
Regarding the Economic Party, a coalition partner, pressuring Supajee to resign as commerce minister, Anutin stated, “They just raised their hand to vote for me as prime minister. They like to jump to conclusions.”
Earlier this week durian farmers heavily criticised a live sale of the fruit at 100 baht each by popular influencer Pimrypie, who was supported in this venture by Supajee, pointing out it distorted market mechanism with the set price “crushing their livelihood” and opening way for middlemen to take advantage of them.
When asked further whether Palang Pracharath Party, which has five seats and voted for him as prime minister, could possibly in future merge with Bhumjaithai Party, which he heads, Anutin said, “The future is the future. Today it is still the same; they voted for me to be prime minister, so it’s still considered a party within the government coalition, but not a coalition partner because they don’t have ministers in the cabinet. It’s just a party on the government side, like the Economic Party.”
“Any party that voted for me to be prime minister is still considered a party on the government side.”
The Prime Minister also said that there was no need to add a deputy finance minister to the team because Assistant Finance Minister Santithar Sathienthai is handling his workload well.
