BANGKOK Metropolitan Administration (BMA) said this evening (March 29) that all 81 bridges and flyovers in the metropolis are safe to use after the massive earthquake in Myanmar’s Mandalay city at 1.20 p.m. yesterday, TV Channel 7 said.
BMA’s Public Works Department sent officials to check all of them and as initial visual inspection found no damage road users can continue crossing them normally.
Meanwhile the Thai Meteorological Department said aftershocks from the 8.2 magnitude earthquake are continuing and as of 4.30 p.m. the total reached 108.
The details are as follows
– Magnitude 1.0-2.9 – 24 times;
– Magnitude 3.0-3.9 – 48 times;
– Magnitude 4.0-4.9 – 29 times;
– Magnitude 5.0-5.9 – 6 times;;
– Magnitude 6.0-6.9 – none;
– Magnitude 7 and higher – one time.
At 4.20 p.m 5.9 magnitude quake occurred in Myanmar just 176 kilometres from Mae Hong Son province with tremors felt in there plus Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Houses shook and objects fell with some people feeling dizzy.
