Protesters disrupt press conference at Pheu Thai HQ

SOME protesters barged into Pheu Thai headquarters late afternoon today (July 23) and threw powder around thus disrupting a press conference by Pheu Thai and Palang Prachararth parties after they concluded their talks, Thai Rath newspaper said.

The protesters loudly asked why Pheu Thai is holding talks with military-installed parties and whether party leaders remember their promises to the public.

They also reminded Pheu Thai leader Chonlanan Srikaew of his vow to resign if his party ever joins ranks with Prawit “Uncle Pom” Wongsuwan, leader of the Palang Pracharath.

They shouted at Palang Pracharath’s chairman of the coordinating committee Thammanat Prompao as he walked in to address the media together with Chonlanan with the two of them then making a hasty exit via the rear gate and sped away in their sedans.

Meanwhile a demonstration at Asoke intersection continued despite heavy rain at 4 p.m. with some participants milling around in their raincoat or holding an umbrella while others took shelter at the skywalk,

At 5:05 p.m. Mr. Sombat Boonngam-anong, a political activist who is known as “Bor Kor Lai Chud ”, showed up wearing a raincoat while the demonstrators cheered Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat who they called “Prime Minister Pita”.

On the sidewalk Mr. Chokdee Rompruek, or Alek, a musician who fights for democracy, sang some songs including a new one attacking Pheu Thai with demonstrators dancing along to music while a Thonglor police team was on hand to ensure orderliness and handle the traffic flow.
