POLICE tracing the financial activity of cyanide serial killings suspect Ms. Sararat Rangsiwutthaporn, or Am, found out that she gambled as much as 10 million baht a day at online casinos with the owners of these casinos to be arrested soon, Amarin TV said today (May 19).
Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Surachate Hakparn, nicknamed Big Joke, added that police will be forwarding all 15 cyanide killing cases against Sararat to the prosecutors next week.
In questioning the suspect again at Central Women’s Correctional Institution yesterday he found that she was not remorseful and refused to give any additional information while also refusing to sign the original testimony.
This was not unexpected as she is acting on the advice of her lawyer, who is still Ms. Thanpicha Eksuwanwat and has not been changed, but no fault has been found against the attorney for giving her this advice.
Although Sararat has not confessed, police have strong evidence to prosecute her, he added.
The source of cyanide is still being investigated with officials of the Department of Industrial Works too being probed for negligence.
There is currently no movement at online casinos where the suspect had channelled as much as 78 million baht but police already know who the owners are.
Gen. Surachate also said that Sararat has been gambling since 2020 using cash obtained from friends, chit funds, auto and other loans and on some days bets totalled as much as 10 million baht.
Investigation showed that her former husband with whom she continued living, Pol. Lt. Col. Witoon Rangsiwutthaphon, a deputy superintendent for investigation at Suan Phueng police station in Ratchaburi, was involved in the gambling having borrowed money from a cooperative and mortgaged his house to give her cash to do so.
There will be more clarity next week on the charges the suspect faces with an additional one being using forged documents for a vehicle belonging another ex-husband, Mr. Suthisak Poonkhwan, or Dea, 35, who died in Udon Thani in March this year and issuance of additional arrest warrants for other suspects in this case.
