Prayut says he is still fine after Hun Sen catches Covid

PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha said this afternoon (Nov. 15) that he is still fine and frequently undergoes Covid-19 test after it was revealed that Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen tested positive and had to leave the Group of 20 meetings in Bali earlier in the day, Matichon newspaper said.

Questioned whether he had got a Covid test after coming into contact with the Cambodian leader at the Asean summit in Phnom Penh, Prayut said not only do officials frequently administer tests he also regularly self-tests at home.

“I was tested after returning from the Asean summit in Cambodia and another test took place yesterday (Nov. 14)  when I presided over the opening ceremony of Thailand BCG Exhibition running in parallel with the Apec summit and I am still okay,” he said.

Asked whether Hun Sen is sending a representative to attend the Apec summit in his place, Prayut said it is not about who is being sent but that according to regulations the invited leader has to attend.

Asked whether more stringent Covid testing measures are being implemented, Prayut replied that officials were already inspecting hotels and accommodations as well as travellers and performers because no one wants to get infected.

He also urged the public to wear face masks in public places and get their booster shots because tourism has picked up and business is improving.
