HomePro shuts Bangkok branch for 3 days amid 2,631 more Covid cases

 

HOME Products Center Plc, the operator of HomePro home improvement and appliances stores,  is shutting its Ekamai-Ramintra branch for three days from today till Sunday (Jun 4-6) after the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) declared it a surveillance area, Thai Rath newspaper said.

Meanwhile CCSA also said at 12.30 p.m. today that there were 2,631 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours and 31 more fatalities with this taking the death toll to 1,177.

The cumulative confirmed total since the start of the pandemic has now risen to 171,979, and since the start of the current wave last month 145,747. At the same time Thailand has moved up to rank 80th in the global Covid-19 tracker.

Of the new batch of cases 2,580 were among the general public, 189 in prisons and detention centres while 51 foreign arrivals were quarantined.

Another 2,493 patients were cured, taking total recoveries to 120,697. However 50,105 are still undergoing treatment, with 21,469 being in hospitals and 28,636 in field hospitals, while 1,182 are in severe condition among whom 376 require ventilators.

Meanwhile HomePro said today it will be undertaking deep cleaning of its Ekamai-Ramintra store which will also be disinfected. All surfaces touched, both inside and outside the store, will be cleaned according to the measures of the Public Health Ministry 

Proactive screening of all employees is being undertaken with those infected with coronavirus being sent for treatment while those at risk of contracting it quarantined for 14 days.

Employees who complete the 14-day quarantine will be tested again before being allowed to return to work.
