A PEOPLE’S MP lashed out at the Bhumjaithai-led coalition government for pressuring Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to chip in 200 million baht for flood relief, with no provinces nor Pattaya, the other special local administrative unit, subject to this demand, Amarin TV said today (Oct. 24).
Furious at this shakedown Mr. Suphanat Minchaiynunt, People’s MP for Bangkok, said on Facebook that the government made it clear that if BMA does not contribute this large sum, flood relief payments would not be distributed to Bangkok’s residents.
BMA is transferring the 200 million baht to the Government Savings Bank (GSB) today, and GSB is expected to disburse the funds to Bangkok residents by tomorrow at the latest.
“Please keep this in mind when the election comes round, the ‘feat’ of the Bhumjaithai-led government, which held the people of Bangkok hostage by refusing to release flood relief payments unless BMA chipped in,” Suphanat said.
