Three dead in police helicopter crash

 

A POLICE helicopter crashed in Prachuap Khiri Khan province this afternoon (May 24) killing two pilots and a mechanic but one person managed to bail out, Naewna and Thai Rath newspaper said.

The helicopter, later identified as Bell 212 and assigned to Kanchanaburi Aviation Unit, crashed near Prachuap intersection within Wing 5 area with firemen rushing there to put out the flames.

Pol. Col. Nakharin Sukonthavit, commander of Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police, said officers are currently conducting a detailed inspection of the area.

The three police officers who died were identified as Pol. Lt. Pratuang Chuleut, pilot, Pol. Lt. Songphon Boonchai, pilot, and Pol. Lt. Tinkrit Suwannoi, mechanic.
