WIDELY discussed on Thai social media today (May 2) is an announcement by the operators of The One Ratchada market, right behind Esplanade Ratchada, that it is closing down on Monday May 5, Thai Rath newspaper said.
After the operators posted a photo of the market announcing its closure many people commented with one saying “Heartbroken.”
Other comments include: “No one really shops there any more, just a little further away is another market where more Chinese tourists flock to.”
“Previously our shop had a lot of customers but now it’s deserted.”
“What a shame, the advertising is good, there are always activities like bringing in singers to promote it, but I understand there is a lot of competition.”
“I really like their products, they are not very expensive, don’t want them to go.”
“We’ve been fighting for two years and seven months.”
