Mystery surrounds death of Indian man in Pathum Thani

AN INDIAN man who disappeared after a row with his Thai partner was found to have plunged to his death in a shop upfront an apartment building in Pathum Thani where he had rented a flat, Naewna newspaper said today (Aug. 20).

Pol. Lt. Gen. Anusorn Wiangsima, deputy inspector at Khlong Luang police station, quickly went to the apartment building on Chiang Rak road together with crime scene police officers, a doctor from Thammasat University Hospital and Ruam Katanyu Foundation rescuers.

The body of Mr. Tarun Jain, 39, was found in the shop with there being a hole on the roof where he had fallen through, and a mobile phone also found on him.

Although police did not see any signs of a struggle in his rented flat on the third floor, they did find some evidence on the ninth floor rooftop which has been collected. Moreover, around 300,000 baht in both US dollars and Thai currency is also missing.

The deceased man’s wife, who flew to Thailand to search for him, said through an interpreter that her husband, who ran an electrical wiring business in India, arrived in Thailand on Aug. 12 and stayed at this flat which he has rented for over a year now and always resides in when in Thailand.

After two days, on Aug. 14, his wife got a phone call from him that a problem had cropped up with his Thai partner who had shouted at him. After that he could not be contacted.

His wife searched for him after arriving here but on not finding him informed the police.

It was today that the apartment building manager found the missing man’s body at the shop upfront and called the police.

Police said they had carefully checked his flat and the rooftop where some evidence was found and are going through video clips from surveillance cameras in his flat to see who entered it from the day of his arrival in Thailand and his death. His body was sent for an autopsy at Thammasat University Hospital.
