A DRAMATIC accident occurred in Lampang with a car slamming the rear of a horse-drawn carriage on the frontage road of the Lampang Highway injuring two people with the horse sustaining multiple wounds, Amarin TV said this evening (Nov. 6).

At 6.30 p.m. Sawang Nakhon Lampang rescue team were alerted of a car colliding with a horse-drawn carriage on this frontage road as they were heading toward Lampang city with some rescuers quickly rushing there to help.

Upon arrival, they found that both the car and the carriage were heavily damaged; the rear of the carriage was completely wrecked, while the front of the car was crushed from the impact. The horse pulling the carriage suffered several injuries, including wounds to its legs, back, and the right side of its body, as well as bleeding from its nose. A veterinarian will have to assess the animal’s condition.

The two injured individuals, a man and a woman who were riding the carriage, were attended to by rescuers. The man sustained only minor injuries and declined to go to the hospital, while the woman, who was the passenger, had injured her left leg and was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the horse carriage was heading for Lampang city when the accident occurred. It is suspected that the driver of the car following behind may not have seen the horse carriage or failed to exercise sufficient caution, resulting in a forceful rear-end collision. The carriage sustained heavy damage, and it is believed that the horse lost its balance and fell on the road thus getting injured in many places.

The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the police, who will question those involved and take legal action.
