THE AUTHORITIES have been suggested to promptly foreclose assets owned by Bhumjaithai MP Suchada Zhang Tansap and her Chinese spouse/money-laundering suspect Taiyang Zhang for fear that they may have been allegedly ill-gotten and could possibly be stashed away whilst pending official investigation.
House Committee on Law, Justice & Human Rights Chair/People’s MP Rangsiman Rome has strongly recommended that the Department of Special Investigation and Anti-Money-Laundering Office quickly expropriate the 1.9 billion baht assets earlier declared by the Zhang family to the National Anti-Corruption Commission amidst allegations that they may have been acquired by way of illicit businesses such as the Shuffle.com online casino reportedly owned in part by Taiyang with a number of clients in Thailand where all gambling activities either in gambling dens or online are entirely illegal.
Those Shuffle gamblers had reportedly spent a combined 100 million baht in digital wallets to place bets with the online casino registered in Curacao via a few crypto exchanges in this country.
According to the House committee chair, the Zhang family could possibly manage to funnel out their assets for fear of possible confiscation if Suchada’s spouse was found guilty at a later date of having owned the online casino, albeit by a paltry amount, concealed any ill-gotten assets or been involved in a transnational money-laundering scam.
Rangsiman, who has undergone an inquiry with the DSI, a government agency under care of the Ministry of Justice, insisted that the authorities including the Securities & Exchange Commission, AMLO, NACC and DSI thoroughly delve into the Zhang family’s suspected money transactions and connections with transnational businesses such as the Shuffle online casino, definitely deemed illegal in this country.
The first-time Bhumjaithai MP of Chaiyapum has been invariably taken to task for allegedly keeping her spouse’s vested interest in the online casino a secret whilst she herself was ironically performing as secretary to Digital Economy & Society Minister Chaichanok Chidchob last year despite government measures to crack down on gambling businesses especially those online.
Chaichanok, son of de facto Bhumjaithai boss Newin Chidchob and secretary-general of the largest ruling party, had earlier said he had been quietly offered a sum of 40 million baht in monthly payoff in exchange for his supposedly turning blind eye and deaf ear to gambling activities in this country.
