Court orders detention of Panadda and husband in foundation case

THE Criminal Court on Ratchadaphisek road this afternoon (Nov. 7) ordered the detention of former Miss Thailand and actress Ms. Panadda Wongphudee, aka Boom, and her husband, Mr. Athip Anantawan, aka Got, with the former not having filed a bail (temporary release) request and while the latter did so, this was denied, Amarin TV said.

Investigators from the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) brought Panadda, former head of Ong Tham Dee (Doing Good) Foundation, and her husband Athip to the court for a remand hearing. The latter had submitted a bail application together with some cash.

As of 1.30 p.m, no bail application had been filed on behalf of Panadda.

At 2.19 p.m., it was reported that Panadda does not intend to seek temporary release at this stage. Consequently, the court was preparing a detention warrant, authorising correctional officials to take her into custody at the Central Women’s Correctional Institution.

Meanwhile, the court reviewed and denied Athip’s bail application and a detention warrant has been signed, authorising correctional officers to take him into custody at the Bangkok Remand Prison.
