DE FACTO PHEU THAI BOSS Thaksin Shinawatra is coming home on the upcoming Tuesday – the same day on which a prime-ministerial candidate is being named and voted under his party’s banners.
After 17 years in self-exile abroad, the globetrotting deposed prime minister is finally returning aboard a private jet to land at Don Mueang airport at about 9.00 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Thaksin’s daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s latest message posted on Instagram today (Aug.19).
The latest confirmed homecoming of Thaksin who had earlier postponed it from Aug.10 will coincide with a joint House/Senate meeting scheduled on the same day to name Srettha Thavisin for prime minister under the tickets of the country’s second largest elected party over which Thaksin has been literally taking remote control.
The deposed prime minister will be brought by Correction Department officials from the Bangkok airport to the Supreme Court in Sanam Luang area where he will formally hear of his convicted, combined 10-year jail term due to three separate cases of misconduct in office nearly two decades earlier.
It remains to be seen where the de facto Pheu Thai boss will be put behind bars since he has been earlier destined for Bangkok Remand Prison in Lard Yao area.
