POLICE have searched 11 targeted places linked to the network of Chinese grey capitalist Mr. Chaiyanat Kornchaiyanant, alias Tu Hao, who was earlier arrested on drug charges, and are now investigating the nominees holding these assets for them, Thai Rath newspaper said this afternoon (Nov. 30).
Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Gen. Torsak Sukwimol said the 11 targeted places searched yesterday were traced through a car that was seized and a police raid on Jinlin entertainment venue in Yannawa area.
After discovering that the seized car frequently entered and left a luxury housing estate in Soi Lasalle, police raided it yesterday and found that several properties and assets were linked to a network of Chinese investors. They have been seized for inspection with persons named as the owners having to bring documents and evidence to clarify their acquisition.
Investigation of the financial route showed hudreds of millions of baht in circulation which is unusal.
Pol. Gen. Torsak added that he is still expanding the investigation and gathering more evidence to charge these nominees who are holding assets for foreigners.
Yesterday’s raid of 11 targeted places linked to Chaiyanat is separate from the investigation of Chinese grey capitalists undertaken by Deputy National Police Chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Surachate Hakparn, whose nickname is Big Joke, and if they are clearly found to be linked to Chaiyanat all the information will be transferred to the latter for further investigation.
