Fugitive Chinese-born grey businessman still in Thailand, protected by a big shot

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

THE CHINESE-BORN businessman who has evaded arrest on drug-related charges is currently hiding somewhere in Thailand under care of a highly-placed, powerful person, said former MP Chuvit Kamonvisit today (Nov.19).

Chuvit, widely known as an entertainment business entrepreneur, said the fugitive Chinese-born businessman, identified as Tu Hao alias Chaiyanat Kornchaiyanan, who has been charged with owning an illegally-operated nighttime bar in Yannawa area and being involved in money-laundering businesses and drugs, has been staying in hiding at an undisclosed place in this country and taken care of by the unidentified influential Thai national.

The businessman who has earlier donated three million baht in cash to the ruling Palang Pracharath Party currently remains at large following news reports that he had flown a private jet from Sunny 604 air field in the premises of the air force’s Wing 6 at Don Muang to Bor Fai air base in Hua Hin late last month.

Chuvit alleged that the Chinese-born businessman bought the private jet, known by initials HS-PSL, from a well-known politician but declined to name names.

Chuvit said Chaiyanat had been allegedly connected with certain Thai politicians suspected of having their ill-gained money laundered by the Chinese-born businessman who has allegedly run a variety of grey businesses in this country.

According to the former MP, Chaiyanat could have escaped arrest since he has been clandestinely protected by the unnamed powerful person.

Under the names of his nominees, the businessman in question has allegedly accumulated ill-gained wealth and laundered money in Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok and run nighttime bars which, Chuvit said, were practically gambling and drug-using dens only open for Chinese guests, Chuvit said.

He said he will shortly submit facts and figures as well as tip-offs pertaining to Chaiyanat’s grey businesses in Thailand to the Ministry of Justice and Thai Liberal Party leader Seripisut Temiyavej who concurrently chairs the House Committee on Corruption & Misconduct.
