Move Forward MP charged with holding forged draft paper

By Thai Newsroom Reporters

LEGAL ACTION HAS BEEN TAKEN by the army against Move Forward MP Jirat Thongsuwan for allegedly holding a forged official document pertaining to his army conscript drafting 13 years earlier.

Reserve Officers Training Corps commander Lt.Gen. Taweepool Rimsakorn has assigned an army judge advocate to file the case with police against the Move Forward MP allegedly holding the forged Sor Dor 43 paper since he was legally obliged to go through the compulsory army drafting procedures in his home province of Chachoengsao in 2011.

The ROTC chief was quoted as saying an authentic Sor Dor 43 paper issued by the army for those who may have passed the compulsory conscript drafting bears the signatures of all five army officers in charge of the drafting process at a certified drafting unit as well as the draftee’s fingerprint.

The Sor Dor 43 paper held by the MP could possibly have been doctored since its original was not found anywhere, according to the ROTC chief.

But Jirat has categorically denied that he was a draft dodger or his paper was doctored as alleged by the army.

The MP of the eastern constituency charged that the controversy surrounding the army drafting process had been raised only to distract the people’s attention from unexamined, accumulated gains from the army-run businesses such as golf courses, boxing stadiums and gas stations, no revenue from which has ever been remitted to the state coffers.
