BANGKOK Governor Chadchart Sittipunt today (Sept. 6) denied having struck a political deal with caretaker Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan amid widespread suspicion arising from the two of them having spoken over the phone a few times recently, Matichon newspaper said.
Speaking to reporters after giving a talk on corruption to mark Anti-Corruption Day 2022 at Bang Sue central station this morning Chadchart said he did not have political ambitions but having asked to become Bangkok governor it was his duty to serve the people to the fullest.
“Gen. Prawit had kindly said if there is anything amiss to call and tell him.
“Yesterday I informed him about water overflowing Klong Prem Prachakorn … and asked him to help drain it as its southern end is the floodgate of Rangsit Prayoonsak canal.
“The Royal Irrigation Department has helped drain out the water and the situation has improved,” he said.
“As for a secret deal, there is none, it’s our duty to focus on serving the people of Bangkok and whichever way we can get a job done we use it. Talk to someone to get help. that’s our duty,” he added.
Asked if he talked about other subjects aside from water management with Prawit, Chadchart replied that briefly that was it.
“Didn’t talk more than necessary, he has very little time … didn’t talk about other things, it was short and easy, nothing sorrowful,” he said.
Asked if another storm is heading for Bangkok, he replied that one is moving into Pathum Thani so rushing to take care of the situation out there.
