BANGKOK GOVERNOR Chadchart Sittipunt has ordered the Public Works Department to find out why a shophouse at the entrance of Sukhumvit Soi 101/1 is leaning and also asked the Engineering Institute of Thailand to help out, Matichon newspaper said this evening (August 22).
Speaking at True Digital Park Chadchart said the building had clearly subsided and technical details must be checked.
While he did not see any cracks on the outside, he suspected that there might be a problem with the foundation with Public Works officials and engineers to now check its stability.
“It’s a serious matter because it affects the safety of both people inside the building and those outside.
“Initially it is necessary to quickly assess the safety issue, find out whether it is still subsiding or has it stopped.
“I don’t come to this area often so have to thank the informers for pointing out this problem. And if anyone runs into such cases please let me know. You can contact me via Traffy Fondue so that we can look into it. This is so because sometimes there are details we don’t have access to,” he said.
