THE Public Health Ministry said at 11.30 a.m. this morning (April 15) that there were 1,543 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours with this being the highest daily total since the start of the outbreak in January last year and shatters yesterday’s record of 1,335 cases, Sanook.com said.
Dr. Chawetsan Namwath, acting head of the Department of Disease Control’s Division for Emergency Control of Disease and Health Hazards, said in a Facebook post that the new batch of cases takes the cumulative confirmed total to 37,453 but there was additional fatality with the toll staying stationary at 97.
So far 28,383 patients have been cured while 8,973 are still undergoing treatment.
Of this new batch of cases 1,161 voluntarily came to the hospital for treatment while 379 were found through proactive examination in communities.
Three overseas arrivals were either hospitalised or quarantined with one each coming from the Netherlands, Sweden and India.
