Motorcyclist injured in train construction accident

 

A MOTORCYCLIST was rushed to the hospital at 1 p.m. today (April 13) after the pulley of a crane being used to build the monorail train line on Srinakarin road suddenly fell in front of him, TV Channel 7 said.

The accident occurred at the entrance of Soi Srinakarin 1, Suan Luang district, with the Yellow train line being constructed along this route.

Pol. Lt. Col. Yingyot Smartpru, deputy traffic chief at Hua Mak police station, said investigation revealed that workers were operating the crane which suddenly malfunctioned with the pulley plunging down to the road. 

The pulley’s pieces fell right in front of the motorcyclist who was riding normally on this road. He was unable to brake in time and crashed into the debris before landing on the road. Rescuers quickly took him to the hospital.

Pol Lt. Col. Yingyot said the construction supervisor and mechanic were brought to the station for questioning on the cause of the accident before the filing of charges under  Construction and Safety Act would be considered.
