THE director of a health promoting hospital in Pathum Thani was immediately transferred after viral exposé by “STRONG Anti-Corruption Club Thailand” webpage that he was inviting subordinates to play cards in the examination room every evening and also implicated him in a ghost-shifting scandal, Amarin TV said today (Sep. 21).
Pol. Lt. Gen. Kamronwit Thoopkrachang, chief of Pathum Thani Provincial Administration Office (PAO), said the director of Khlong Nueng Sub-district Health Promoting Hospital (Khlong Nueng Health Centre) had not only been immediately transferred to PAO office with a fact-finding committee too having been set up to complete its investigation within seven days.
On the potential penalties the unnamed hospital director faces, the PAO chief said any decision would align with cabinet resolution that explicitly addresses gambling within government premises and that this matter would be handled decisively and swiftly.
Asked whether the penalty could lead to dismissal from the civil service, he replied that the local administration has to wait for the outcome of the committee’s investigation to determine appropriate disciplinary action, ensuring that all procedures strictly adhere to official government regulations.
This webpage said staff of this hospital had got frustrated because they kept losing at card games the director held in the examination room every evening.
The webpage further argued that, given the director’s alleged card-playing and involvement in a ghost shift scheme PAO should immediately transfer the individual from this position. Concerns were raised that the director’s behaviour — specifically the intimidation of subordinates — could interfere with witnesses and evidence.
