UNOFFICIAL result of today’s (Sep. 20) Nonthaburi Provincial Administration Organistion (PAO) chief election shows Mr. Naruphon Yenprasert, a candidate of Phueng Luang group, has surged ahead of People’s candidate, Mr. Decharat Sukkamnerd, with over 30,000 votes after more than 50% of the ballots were counted, Naewna newspaper and Amarin TV said.
Naruphon expressed his gratitude to people of Nonthaburi for continuing to place their trust in the Phueng Luang group, noting that without their participation in the election, the group would not have known they still retained public’s confidence. He also thanked the entire Phueng Luang team for their tireless efforts from day one to the very end; their hard work was instrumental in achieving the success they had envisioned.
Meanwhile Decharat, accompanied by key party figures, congratulated Naruphon on his victory and expressed his gratitude for public support and those who turned out to vote despite various obstacles. He emphasised that every vote — whether cast for People’s Party or another party — held deep significance for him and his camp as they respect the people’s voice and decision.
The latest unofficial count at 8:08 p.m. with 51.7% of the votes tallied is as follows:
– Candidate No. 1: Mr. Naruphon Yenprasert (Phueng Luang group) – 98,976 votes;
– Candidate No. 2: Gen. Nipon Sitabut – 1,876 votes;
– Candidate No. 3: Mr. Chutiphon Pinmanee – 1,012 votes;
– Candidate No. 4: Mr. Decharat Sukkamnerd (People’s Party) – 70,794 votes;
– Candidate No. 5: Acting Sub Lt. Nontaphan Paphatphoncharoen – 633 votes;
– Candidate No. 6: Mr. Tham Phakbowon – 3,843 votes.
Approximately 1,075,971 people were eligible to vote in this local election at 1,450 polling stations across six districts — Mueang Nonthaburi, Bang Bua Thong, Pak Kret, Bang Yai, Bang Kruai, and Sai Noi.
Naruphon, 57, is the nephew of late Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, the former Nonthaburi PA0 chief who passed away. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok and works as an engineer at a public company. His wife serves as the director of Chonprathan Wittaya School.
