SOON after deporting an Israeli man on charges of threatening another person Prime Minister-cum-Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today (Sep. 7) signed an order kicking out a Frenchman for misbehaving and warned that anyone not toeing the line is not welcome in the country, Amarin TV and PPTVHD36 said.
His order deporting Mr. Kevin Dimino, a French national, followed Koh Samui Provincial Court ruling him guilty under Land Traffic Act B.E. 2522 (1979), Section 43 (4), (8) and Section 158/1, paragraph two, and sentenced him to a fine of 10,000 baht. As the defendant’s confession was beneficial to the proceedings, and there were mitigating circumstances, the penalty was reduced by half to a fine of 5,000 baht. If the fine is not paid, action will be taken according to Criminal Code, Sections 29 and 30, along with confiscation of the evidence.
Anutin’s order, signed in his capacity as interior minister, states that Dimino’s actions posed a threat to public order and morality as the Frenchman had behaved in a threatening, harassing and aggressive manner, causing nuisance to others, creating racial and religious divisions, including among tourists, and engaged in reckless behaviour that could endanger individuals or property.
The Prime Minister emphasised that he focuses on the feelings of Thai people with anyone behaving improperly being considered to be someone Thailand does not wish to have in the country.
While the deported Israeli man, Mr. Yaacov Ohayon, could appeal to Anutin as Prime Minister to halt his deportation, he said he has not seen any such document yet.
Regarding the standoff between some villagers in Chachoengsao province and a Jewish company over a cemetery in their neighbourhood, Anutin said the permit will not be renewed, and Deputy Minister of Interior Polapee Suwunchwee is handling this matter.
