PATTAYA Mayor Poramet Ngampichet said the visit of USS Abraham Lincoln to Pattaya during Sep. 2-6 is not only boosting tourism revenue but also draws attention to how well-equipped this seaside city is having over 200,000 hotel rooms to offer, Naewna newspaper said today (Sep. 5).
The US sailors have spread out, exploring various attractions including entertainment venues, cultural sites, and other important tourist offerings throughout Pattaya.
Having over 200,000 hotel rooms, Pattaya welcomed over 20 million tourists last year, he mentioned.
Meanwhile, popular tourist destination like Koh Larn is also experiencing increased tourism activity with an average of 5,000–10,000 tourists visiting daily,
Pattaya has ample capacity to comfortably accommodate around 5,000 US sailors and Marines with this visit also presenting a great opportunity to promote the city’s improved infrastructure for international tourists.
Poramet emphasised and requested cooperation from the public and businesses to be good hosts, prioritising the country’s image, especially in the age of social media where Pattaya is attracting global attention. He also warned against exploiting or overcharging tourists for goods and services, in order to create a lasting positive impression for the USS Abraham Lincoln crew during their visit.
As their shore leave draws to an end the number of US sailors coming to Pattaya from Laem Chabang port noticeably decreased today while those who were staying at various hotels were seen loading their luggage and souvenirs onto transport vehicles provided at designated pick-up and drop-off points to return to their aircraft carrier.
