A FILIPINO MAN and his Chinese wife, both language teachers, fell to their death from a high-rise condo in Bangna last evening (Aug. 26) and died on the spot, Thai Rath newspaper said.
At 5 p.m. Pol. Lt. Col. Suthep Suphot at Bangna station was informed of a couple having plunged to their death at this condo so rushed there to investigate with a police team and Por Teck Tung Foundation rescuers.
At the scene they found the bodies of the couple, identified as Mr. Wilfredo Castillo Mandane Jr., 25, and Mrs. Min Wang, 30, lying next to each other at the rear of the building with Mr. Phairat Sangsichit, the condo manager, saying the driver of a van that came in to drop off students was the first to have spotted them.
A surveillance camera clip shows that five to six minutes after the couple, who were teaching in different schools, returned to the condo and went up the lift to their unit on the 23rd floor, both plunged to their death.
As the clip shows the Filipino man snatching his wife’s mobile phone while going up the lift, police think he might have read a disturbing message leading to a fierce row that ended in their death.
An inspection of their unit did show signs of struggle and while a surveillance camera outside the building showed that they fell together, police later said that the Filipino man climbed over the railing first and pulled his unwilling wife down with him.
