Fire erupts at Rama VI road community, some houses gutted

A FIRE broke out at a community in Soi 15 off Rama VI road early this morning (June 8) with four to five houses gutted and one injured person sent to Central Hospital for treatment, Amarin TV and PPTVHD36 said.

At 7.51 a.m. a report was received via 199 emergency hotline of the blaze spreading in this community and by 8 a.m. a team of firefighters from Banthat Thong station had arrived to extinguish it.

They then evacuated residents as they sprayed water to control the fire and prevent it from spreading further after engulfing two houses.

The fire was still spreading at 8.23 a.m. and had by now gutted four to five houses, particularly on the side near a mackerel factory.

Rama VI Radio Centre said at 8.58 a.m. the fire had spread rapidly from the fifth floor of a green building with cracks having formed in its structure with firefighters continuing to work on controlling it while the cause is being investigated.
