Tourist Police launch mobile AI face recognition camera, nab Indian man for overstaying

 

A TOURIST Police team cruised around Pattaya in a mobile operational vehicle equipped with an AI face recognition camera and arrested an Indian man for overstaying on Pattaya Beach Road, TV Channel 7 said this afternoon (April 19).

 Pol. Lt. Col. Prabda Suksuntree, chief of Tourist Police Division 4, sub-division 2, bureau 1, sent his team to patrol the popular seaside city and they then caught Mr. Sangrah Surinder, 35, for overstaying for 43 days.

He was charged with residing in Thailand after expiration of his visa and taken to Pattaya City police station for further legal proceedings.

Meanwhile Customs officials at Suvarnabhumi Airport in cooperation with the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, yesterday arrested an Indian woman for attempting to smuggle wild animals worth over 300,000 baht out of the country, PPTVHD36 said

A search led to the seizure of the following live animals: three Aldabra tortoises, two leopard tortoises, three Sulcata tortoises, one snapping tortoise, four raccoons, and one degu. 

This is the third such arrest so far this month with the unidentified woman taking the wild animals to Bangaluru in southern India. 

This is a violation of the Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act B.E. 2562 (2019), the Animal Epidemics Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the Fisheries Act B.E. 2558 (2015), the Customs Act B.E. 2560 (2017), and other related laws.
