THE Second Army Region said in a Facebook post this evening [Dec.8] that it has conducted five military operations today qnd completely destroyed Khmer military capabilities at these sites with a major success being the recapture of Prasat Khana ancient temple while it is feared Khmer forces may launch BM-21 rocket attacks against civilians tonight focussing on areas they have previously destroyed, Naewna newspaper and Amarin TV said.
All missions were planned and conducted in strict accordance with security practices and international law, with the utmost importance given to preventing impacts on civilians not involved in the conflict.
A review of tactical data revealed that Cambodian forces were moving heavy equipment and deploying combat forces amid preparations for gunfire support, which could threaten the stability and safety of citizens in the border areas.
This led to military operations to deter and destroy Cambodia’s military capabilities to the extent necessary to maintain state security and the safety of the people in the area.
Key operations included: 1) Destroying an abandoned building housing a scammer network in the Chong An Ma area, Nam Yuen district, Ubon Ratchathani province; 2) Destroying an anti-drone post in the Preah Vihear and Huai Ta Maria areas, Kantharalak district, Sisaket province; 3) Clearing a cashew nut orchard encroaching on the operational line in the Chong Rayi area, east of Chong Chom; 4) Taking control of Prasat Khana, in Kap Choeng district, Surin province; and 5) Destroying a supply cable car at Hill 350, Prasat Ta Kwai ancient temple.

In another development Thai government spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat confirmed unequivocally that Cambodian forces initiated the use of heavy weapons, resulting in injuries of Thai soldiers and, subsequently, death, PPTVHD 36 said.
The Thai government reaffirmed that fighter aircraft were deployed solely to intercept Cambodian attacks and Thailand’s response was conducted strictly in self-defence and in full compliance with International Rules of Engagement
Additionally, the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) reported that flights are operating normally following concerns raised about the situation at the Thai-Cambodian border.
CAAT clarified that it is coordinating with security agencies to identify zones to avoid and implement airspace management measures to ensure maximum safety.
CAAT is closely monitoring the situation in collaboration with security agencies to assess the impact on national aviation safety.
