A CONTROVERSY arose today (Oct. 1) after a homeowner in Thana City housing estate complained that while his house got flooded Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s house in the same estate remained completely dry with a netizen later blasting him for not telling the truth Naewna newspaper said.
Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil posted photos and a message on Facebook revealing the condition of his luxury home, which is severely flooded and damaged, compelling his family to evacuate from the premises.
“I pay taxes to the government, yet this is the state of my home. I live in the same housing estate as ‘Nayok Nu’ (Prime Minister Anutin, with Nu being his nickname). His side is completely dry, whereas just a short walk away, it looks like an ocean.
“I reiterate: we are in the same estate. How can this be? Half the estate is flooded while the other half isn’t. We have had our water and electricity cut off, and cars are submerged; we have had to evacuate. It’s a world of difference, even though we live in the same neighbourhood,” he wrote.
A little later Ms. Jane Wirisnan stepped in to refute these claims, arguing that Nawat’s information was intended to mislead the public and served as an attack on Anutin based on falsehoods.
“There is news every single day, and the Prime Minister has a multitude of responsibilities. However, those intent on finding fault will seize trivial matters and blow them out of proportion.
“I want to point out that Thana City is essentially a vast estate centred around a golf course. Regarding the claim by ‘Khun Nawat’ that Prime Minister’s home is on the opposite side — that is indeed correct. I visited Thana City yesterday to see a friend living in a condominium near the Prime Minister’s residence, and the area was truly free of flooding, in fact, that entire section was completely dry,” she said.
“It isn’t just Prime Minister Anutin’s house that escaped the flooding.”
She told Nawat to not make baseless claims and mislead people because Thana City estate is massive, akin to Muang Thong Thani.
She claimed that Nawat’s house in on the opposite side with the estate comprising four to five sub-villages and called on him to pinpoint where exactly his house is located,
” From what I know, even though both houses are within Thana City, they are in completely different locations — not even in the same soi or parallel streets. Why are you intentionally misleading people about the Prime Minister?”
