A LARGE awning made of concrete collapsed at the entrance of an alley in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district this afternoon (Oct. 1) but fortunately there were no casualties.
The district office’s Facebook page posted photos and a message that their chief, Mr. Koson Singhanat, together with teams from Phu Khao Thong fire and rescue station and Samranrat police station inspected the entrance of Soi Samranrat after the concrete awning came crashing down at 1.50 p.m.
Initially traffic to the alley has been closed and the public told to stay away from this area for their safety until traffic reopens again, Amarin TV said.
A preliminary inspection showed that the awning was already damaged before collapsing. Relevant officials are closely monitoring the situation and agencies in charge are determining corrective and repair measures which will be expedited.
