CAMBODIAN authorities have arrested the second suspect in the murder of a countryman in Chonburi with his body with all 10 fingers cut off being found in a 200-litre barrel filled with cement and dumped in a reservoir, Naewna newspaper said this afternoon (May 14).

The body of the victim was confirmed to be Mr. Roh Eui Jong, 34, after his sister and a cousin flew here from South Korea to identify him while his DNA matched that of his father’s.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Nophasin Pulsawat, deputy chief of Metropolitan Police, said Thai police are getting ready to issue arrest warrants for three South Korean suspects, Mr. Lee Roun, Mr. Kim Hyeongwon  and Mr. Lee Yongjin.

Lee Roun was arrested in South Korea after flying back from Thailand but has denied all charges brought against him.

Meanwhile Cambodian police were able to arrest Lee Yongjin at a residence in Phnom Penh yesterday and he is being sent back to South Korea for legal action.

It was reported that Kim Hyeongwon had crossed over to Myanmar.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Nophasin said the body had been definitely identified as being that of Roh Eui Jong to go by a mole on the back and scar on his left leg. Moreover, forensic officials confirmed that the DNA matched that of his father with a report being released today.

On May 7 Roh’s mother had informed the South Korean embassy that a criminal had called her on her son’s mobile phone and said he had thrown drugs into water causing damage and demanded 3 million baht compensation. The embassy then contacted the police.
