Copay cash being distributed on Oct. 29: Finance Minister

DEPUTY Prime Minister-cum-Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said the public will be able to use the cash from the copay project over two months from Oct. 29 onwards with details of the scheme to be tabled to the cabinet next week, Naewna newspaper and PPTVHD 36 said today (Oct. 1).

After cabinet approval the public could start registering for this scheme via familiar channels.

As mentioned at Parliament there are two dimensions to this “quick big win” project with the big part being that the daily spending limit has been increased to 200 baht from 150 baht as previously run when coup leader-turned-prime minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was at the helm.

The win part is that this time round  small- and medium-sized businesses can also join the project.

Taxpayers will receive 2,400 baht with this sum being high to help the public understand the benefits of paying taxes and it would also help merchants become familiar with e-commerce and digital accounting systems, he said.

The 13.4 million welfare card holders will receive an additional 1,700 baht one time payment taking the 300 baht they usually get each month to 2,000 baht.
